European Pirates Conference is supposed to take place on 20, 21 and 22th March 2014.

The goal is to attract several hundreds of European Pirates and to talk about the upcoming EU elections campaign.

Young Pirates of Europe will participate on Friday with us. On Saturday they are going to use their venue.

The schedule

  • Thursday: Evening opening schedule 18-21h
  • Friday: Visitors group in the morning - 9-10:30
  • Friday: Conference starts at 11
  • Friday: 11-12:30 The founding conference.
  • Friday: 12:30 - 13:30 Press conference with the Board
  • Friday: 14:00 - 20:00 Afternoon session
  • Friday: 20:00 - ? Social event
  • Saturday: Manifestation during the day - 10-13.
  • Saturday: 14:00-20:00 The conference.

Exact topics

  • Speeches, panels, presentations
  • Pirate topics - focused on program/manifesto
  • Speakers from Civil society. RMS would be great to come.

The venue

  • University or theatre
  • Walking distance from the center or metro stop. ULB is quite far from this place.
  • Contacted places so far: Flagley, Erasmus School, De Markten center.
    • So far no answer.
  • Contacted Brussels Visitor's centre - an appointment should be scheduled with some outcome. The idea - what is actually the venue that might be interested in our event? What is the most suitable one?

  • Looking for a place like university campus, theatre or cultural institution
  • Offering FIRST media attraction and THEN perhaps money - limited amount
  • Use commercial space as a last resort.

  • Belgian Pirates - to suggest General Assembly on Sunday. They can have guests and medial attention. Organizing the social event on Saturday evening? Or Friday evening?

  • Booking will be done with Laurent Delavay.
  • Coordination with Julian and Youth Pirates. Julia Reda speak for the Young Pirates, as well as Jonas from PP BE.

Money stuff

There will be two separate budgets - the European Pirates conference and the Youth Pirates conference.

We will have to organize mass booking in a hotel like Euroflat for many rooms. Communication with the hotel will be necessary. The larger rooms the better.

Visitors group will come and accomodation will be organized for these people as well.
